  • Pros: Nice technical course, while still being fun for new players. Most holes are 50m - 70m with the par 4 holes being not much over 100m. As I understand, this is the first course in Australia that was included in the design and delivery of the park in which it is situated. This is all part of the delivery of a new suburb. Cons: The course designer did not understand the finer points of disc golf! Expert advice was offered but refused. There are tees within a few metres of baskets and fairway flight-lines that threaten other holes. the locals have added a LOT of mandos to add a degree of safety. Further, some of the (very nice concrete) tees are facing in the wrong direction.

  • Pros: Some shorter holes through the trees and a couple of longer ones across the grass. Great course to practice tight lines. Has all facilities... toilets, BBQ, water etc... Concrete tee-pads. Cons: As others suggest, it is an easy course - even I threw the A-position course 4 under!!!

  • Pros: This course is currently being re-built. I've thrown most of the new version and there will be some really interesting holes. For the first 9, there are 4 down-hill, 2 flat and 3 up-hill holes... and none of the up-hills are particularly excessive (unlike the original version of the course!). The second nine is similar but a little tougher, including a sneaky little 35m flex shot that everyone will want to ace (and will miss!). The new version is due to open on December 22nd. Cons: It's a 2 1/2 hour drive from Melbourne!

  • Pros: An amazing course... ho wouldn't want to play INSIDE a (hopefully inactive) volcano! Plenty of undulations and also with concrete tee-pads. Note, being inside the crater, the winds do swirl. I played to adjacent holes, perpendicular to one another... BOTH had a head-wind! Cons: As others have said... bring water!!

  • Pros: Nice tight course - plenty of trees to content with. Useful to have 10 holes as there was someone 'camped' mid-way along one hole (7, I think it was) and clearly not interested in moving! We played in early October and the course was in perfect condition. Not sure why others struggled to find tees - navigation was remarkably easy. Cons: The par 4s were probably only 3s - I pretty easily birdied both of them! Picnickers are frequent.

  • Pros: Excellent use of elevation, beautiful location. Looking forward to playing a round in the snow (but not with my white discs!) Cons: It can get AMAZINGLY windy!

  • Pros: Great course to introduce people to the sport. For experienced players it would probably make for a great ace-race course! Cons: A couple of tree-limited holes, but most are simply hurling across the open park.

  • Pros: Open course with some height variation. Cons: Probably too open - very few trees to challenge players. This also means little shade - bring lots of sunscreen. Get there early on a pleasant weekend day to beat the playground crowds. as there is limited parking (some of which is also time-limited).

  • Pros: Unlike any other course you will ever play. Ever. You get the feeling there's more vertical than horizontal on some holes! This course will challenge you like you've never been challenged before, and there's always the feeling that no matter how well you play, you left a few shots out there... The hospitality from Nate and Carmen will be just the icing on the cake - you're likely to want to stay as it's a rather long round-trip from anywhere else. The first hole - across the horse paddock - will lull you into a false sense of familiarity with many other courses, but that's the last time you will think that! Cons: As Nate suggested, playing in the rain would be 'interesting' as there are a couple of steeply sloping granite faces that must be negotiated. These would be very slippery in the wet.

  • Pros: well manicured grass course with plenty of trees. Some elevation changes to keep it interesting. Alternate tees for the more (or less) adventurous. Cons: Can be very wet underfoot. The mozzies won't just bite, they're planning a kidnap mission to bodily pick you up and take you back to their place! Others have mentioned the walk between holes 3 & 4... but it's no big deal.

  • Pros: Easy-to-play course... tees are close to the previous basket. Sufficient trees to cause grief for the unwary (and elicit the occasional rude word!) Cons: Somewhat tight fit into the available space. Probably difficult to cope with multiple playing groups in close proximity. Entirely flat land - there might be an elevation change of 20cm if you're really lucky! Will only ever be 9 tees.

  • Pros: easy flow around the course, tees are easy to find, Cons: Not a lot of variation. Most holes are open grass with just a couple of tree challenged holes. As others have said, the wind is 'interesting' especially when it can change direction by 90 degrees in just a few minutes. Also, be prepared to lose a favourite disc or two in the river!

  • Pros: Easy to play and easy to access. Started as a 'stealth' course which now has the support of local council. Cons: Not a lot of variation in the holes, but being a relatively small park, it will always stay friendly and limited in size.

  • Pros: Great public course with full facilities. Holes are beginner-friendly but can still pose a challenge for the better players seeking to go under par. Cons: Others have noted the difficulties in locating tees for the newer holes and also the alternates. the map is available here: http://www.melbournediscgolf.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Ruffey-Lake-18-hole-Course.pdf
