Pros: Beginner friendly course with alternate 9 tees that keep the course challenging enough for players of all skill levels. Tournament layout makes use of the amazing elevation changes on offer, making for a much improved experience. Great park facilities near HQ. Cons: Limited parking when park gets busy. Natural tee pads are well worn, some with exposed tree roots.
9 years agoPros: Fun local course, good use of space available. Fun wooded hole to start the round. Beautiful location on the river with good access to car parking and amenities nearby. Can get crazy windy forcing you to learn how to throw the right disc in wind. Cons: Very flat with one hilly exception. Park gets quite busy so some holes playing across or near paths experience delays. Can get crazy windy making some throws extra difficult
9 years agoPros: A fun local course when set up for public play requiring a variety of big and technical throws. This course really shines when configured for tournament play with river crossing and amazing elevation coming into play. Cons: Natural tees, parking limited on weekends due to soccer. Occasionally conflicts with park run activities.
9 years agoPros: Stunning back drop with course playing on the shores of Lake Macquarie. Challenging 10 hole course with variety of throws required. Centrally located parking and amenities makes access to the park easy. Additional tees and basket locations available for Championship level play. Cons: Grass tees, no signage though Newcastle DGC have mentioned that this will be changing in the near future with signs to go in during May/June. Park maintenance is sometimes lax with long grass adding to the challenge of heavy growth along shore.
9 years agoPros: Has improved out of sight since the original 9 baskets went in, expanding to 18 holes and utilising more of the park space available. Some good open shots, fun wooded hole and good use of elevation where possible. Cons: No signage, natural tees that are overworn in some spots. Some holes play over roads/paths so cause delays if park is busy. Too open and recent park "maintenance" has made it more so with SOPA removing more trees without replacement.
9 years agoPros: Great use of available space and integration with other facilities at Lake Crackenback. Good use of elevation and amazing scenery with snow capped mountains in the background during spring. Cons: Some awkward tees with exposed tree roots.
9 years agoPros: A good local community course with a good mix of skills required to play well. Multiple tees. Good park facilities, plenty of taps and bathroom in the middle of the course. Cons: Plagued by mosquitoes in warmer months. Some alternate tees hard to find. Multiple course changes due to council redesigns has meant some tee signs are no longer relevant. Natural grass tees show signs of erosion in some spots.
9 years agoPros: Good variety of holes requiring a wide array of throws. Beautiful trees! Cons: Rather confusing layout with multiple crossovers. No signage, older baskets. Some holes play over or near other park equipment or over the road leading to other park user safety concerns.
9 years agoPros: One of Australia's great disc golf destinations. A rite of passage that everyone needs to experience at least once. Heavily wooded, well designed with good balance for players of all styles and skills. Camp on site during the event, enjoy the immense bonfire that gets built from course clean up material and enjoy the amazing hospitality from course owner and the PDGC. Cons: Privately owned so only accessible during tournaments or by prior arrangement. Danger of fire & extreme heat in summer also means limited time of year availability.
9 years agoPros: Great beginner course for those learning the game. Well sign posted with huge map near Tee 1/10. Concrete tee pads on all holes and alternate basket sleeves installed to allow for 36 different options. Ideal training course for advanced players working on putter tee and approach shots. Cons: Can get reasonably busy with some open spaces used for park fitness and team events. Super busy park, can get difficult to find a park.
